My Dog Suffers From Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Have you ever suffered from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)? If you answered yes, then you know that food, your diet, is important in controlling IBS. Why would you think it would be any different with our dogs? Don’t you think if your diet is so important for us humans that the same would apply to our dogs? You bet it does. And that is why you should seriously consider putting your dog on a BARF diet. Let’s give our dogs what they deserve, the BARF Diet, and watch them improve and feel normal once again. I have had my dogs on raw food diets for about 12 years, I work as an Addictions Counsellor and my dogs work as co-counsellors and are certified therapy dogs. I run into two problems with more and more frequency. The Dog Organisations that certify my dogs and the facilities that we visit are increasingly alarmist about raw food diets both nutritionally and as a liability for human clients in terms of passing on pathogens and bacteria. Of course, the Delta Society’s new policy of banning raw fed dogs from service work does not help at all even though their research is heavily biased by the dry pet food industry. Any tips or info that i can use to keep my dogs both healthy and working is greatly appeciated. John Norton, Vancouver, BC, Canada

    Good Morning John,
We too are troubled with the restrictions placed on service dogs for being fed a raw diet. There seems to be a powerful lobby from the grain based dog food companies that try to restrict the owners from using other than grain based food. I have promoted, manufactured and sold raw meat diets for 34 years. I have yet to have one case brought to any of my companies in 34 years with the concerns they have for their pet owners. It is a shame that freedom of choice is restricted now even for dog food. I wish I had a solution for you on this matter but I don’t. Thanks for your support and hopefully together we can make a difference in the health of our pets.
