Every once in a while I find articles that offer informative trivia that pertains to nutrition topics we discuss every day. This week I was reading an article published in Dr. Frank Shallenberger’s Real Cures newsletter. I have related several times the importance of rebuilding cells in the body and his article this week offers some trivia that most people are unaware of.
Here is what he says:
“When you get a bruise, your body heals it. when you get a cut on your skin, your body heals it. When you get a broken bone, your body heals it. It’s all part of your body’s cycle of renewal.—where old cells die and new ones are born. What many people don’t realize is that this renewal process doesn’t just occur with cuts, bruises, and broken bones. The fact is, it occurs in practically every cell of the body.
• You get a whole new stomach lining every 10 days.
• You get new skin every 30 days.
• You get a new liver every 6 weeks.
• You get new bone cells every 6 months.
• And you get new lungs, new arteries, and new blood cells every 3 months.”
I found this trivia quite amazing because it points out the importance of regenerating new cells in the body. Any process that tends to slow down this process is what causes the disease process to develop. On the contrary, any process that tends to accelerate the immune system process is a determent to the disease process. Knowing that the internal healing process is the best medicine we have to fight off infection and disease, then it is logical to do whatever it takes to build up that process. Likewise it only makes sense to try and eliminate those things that tear down the immune system- things like vaccinations, steroids, antibiotics, radiation and chemotherapy. Given the chance to regenerate cells and build back a natural immunity are key factors to rebuilding revitalized health.
Traditional medicine functions by treating symptoms rather than the cure. Many times the treatment of the symptoms creates a larger problem by initiating other side effects and medical issues. This is one reason why I advocate switching to a natural raw meat diet for your dog. This diet works by building up the immune system protection system and with proper nutrition it helps to provide the cellular rebuilding process. The live enzymes and phytonutrients are the life force in the raw food diet that triggers the body’s digestive and metabolic processes. There is no comparison that offers the advantages of the nutritional boost from feeding a raw food diet. (BARF DIET).
