Cancer, Be Prepared With A Strong Immune System

Published on January 27, 2009 by in BARF, Health

Continuing with my discussions of the immune system, I want to relate a suggestion given by Dr. Frank Shallenberger in his articles on a complete cancer treatment plan. I will be starting a whole new series of blogs on the topic of Cancer next month but I found it interesting that one part of his four step approach to treating cancer is the building of the immune system response. Essentially he recommends that his patients work on building the healthiest bodies on the planet.

This means three things:

  1. The immune system must be strong enough to fight off pathogens that might attack while treating the cancer.
  2. The system needs plenty of antioxidants that neutralize free radicals.
  3. The body is able to cope with the physical and emotional stress of battling the cancer.

All three of these building blocks are needed to beat the cancer. Unfortunately, by the time most cancers are diagnosed, the animal is already in a state of health that is way below its potential. It is this state of poor health which usually accounts for poor outcomes according to Dr. Shallenberger.

Most cancer victims don’t die from the cancer itself, they die from being worn out and wasted. This condition is called cachexia which is the gradual wasting away of the cancer patients body. I will discuss at length the process by which the cancer cells produce energy in next months blogs. There are many ways to maximize the health and vitality of a pet going through this condition. We can suggest supplements and hormones, detoxification and starting on a natural diet. All these different suggestions and therapies are every bit as important as killing the cancer itself.

Our company has seen a significant increase in cancer lately and more guardians should heed the advice of Dr. Shallenbergers 3 step plan for treating cancer patients. I will highlight his cancer points in next months blogs.
