Another Raw Diet Benefit
Studying nutrition is my hobby and I find it quite interesting to discover information about nutrients and compounds that cast such importance on our daily bodily functions. I find it exciting to discover a mineral that provides such a profound benefit and yet is so unknown in its importance. I’m taking about the benefits derived from Sulfur. So little is written about this mineral that you would be surprised that it is the third most plentiful mineral in both humans and animals. It is included in the structure of proteins and found throughout the body. It is an important component of many enzymes, hormones, and antibodies. It is found in abundance in the skin, hair, and nails.
MSM, short for for methyl-sulfonylmethane, is a nutrient form of sulfur and it is found in many common foods. The body uses MSM to regenerate healthy tissues. MSM is basically unstable and is quickly lost from food once it is processed, cooked , or stored. The body needs to continually replenish its MSM bank to produce new, healthy cells. Only fresh and raw unprocessed foods contain MSM.
What is the importance of this new information? Can we see another benefit to feeding your animals foods that are unprocessed? Can we begin to understand why the raw foods correct and reverse disease conditions that are being caused by ingesting processed foods? Allergies and arthritis conditions can be helped by giving a dietary source of sulfur.
Clearly, MSM offers a broad range of health benefits to humans and pets, and should be part of a comprehensive fresh raw diet.
